We’re excited to be taking part in this year’s Love Parks campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy. Love Parks is a week-long celebration highlighting the vital role green spaces play in boosting the health and wellbeing of residents and communities.
Darwin Gardens is the perfect example of a fantastic community green space where you can walk your dog, go for a picnic, sit under a tree with a sketch book, or just relax on a bench and listen to the wind, birds, and (more often than not) rain!
Here are a few ideas for activities you can take part in to celebrate and cherish Darwin Gardens Millennium Green:
• Superhero Picnic – have a picnic dressed as your favourite superhero; if you forget the picnic blanket you can always use your cape!
• Teddy Bear Tea Party – bring your teddies and toys to Darwin Gardens to enjoy a tea party with a fantastic view.
• Read and Relax – enjoy some quiet time with a book; there’s always something quite magical about reading outdoors.
• Meal and Maze – fill a flask and top up your Tupperware before heading over to Darwin Gardens, where you can polish everything off before exploring the maze.
• Picnic and Paddle – enjoy a picnic in Darwin Gardens and then pop across the road for a paddle in the paddling pool at the foot of Ilkley Moor. Don’t forget to wear non-slip paddle shoes in the water, as the pool can be slippery.
